The number one attraction shall be world golf number 1 Tiger Woods of the USA, who shall be joined in the field by major golf winners - Darren Clarke, Padraig Harrington, Todd Hamilton, Ben Curtis, Martin Kaymer, Charl Schwartzel, Rory McIlroy, Graeme McDowell and Michael Campbell.

The defending champion is former USPGA Champion, Martin Kaymer of Germany, who won this event last year with -24, consiting of 67, 65, 66 and 66, to collect a cheque for € 334,398. Such was the quality of Kaymer's scoring (level -6,66s), the German golfer won this event by the commanding margin of eight strokes from US Open Champion Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland.

Kaymer, has won this event in 2010 and 2012 and shall be going for an unprecedented three wins in a row on the Desert Swing.

Two-time former winner Paul Casey of England is unable to play after injuring himself and shall be out for approximately two months.

The English challenge is expected to come from world golf ranking number one and two, Luke Donald and Lee Westwood.

Another fancied player is big-hitting Alvaro Quiros of Spain, who tends to play very well in the Desert Swing of the Race to Dubai.
